ROLE SUMMARY:

The American Institute of Monterrey (AIM) is a leading bilingual international school committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and high-performing learning environment for students from Early Years through High School. We are seeking a passionate and creative Art Teacher (Painting) to inspire students through the power of arts. The teacher will design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences that develop students’ musical knowledge, creativity, confidence, and appreciation for different musical styles and cultures. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic educator who can create an inspiring learning environment, encourage students to express themselves creatively, and contribute to AIM’s vibrant arts and wider school community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging, and age-appropriate lessons.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual students’ learning needs, abilities, and goals.
  • Prepare students for concerts, recitals, assemblies, performances, auditions, and music examinations.
  • Develop students’ arts, painting, and performance techniques, creativity, and effective practice routines.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and lesson outcomes, and contribute to reports as required.
  • Collaborate with the Fine Arts Supervisor and other staff to coordinate timetables, rehearsals, performances, and wider music initiatives.
  • Support extracurricular activities.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, inclusive, and positive learning environment that promotes student wellbeing, self-discipline, and responsibility.
  • Follow all safeguarding procedures and ensure instruments, resources, teaching spaces, and activities are used safely and appropriately.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Arts Education, or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Strong musical expertise and a high level of proficiency in the relevant instruments for painting. 
  • Proven experience teaching art lessons to children and young people.
  • Experience preparing students for art examinations or performances.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and personalise learning according to students’ abilities and goals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students of varying ages and abilities.
  • Excellent planning, organisation, scheduling, and record-keeping skills.
  • High proficiency in English; Spanish proficiency is desirable.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, including willingness to support school events, extracurricular activities, evenings, weekends, or holidays when required.
