Senior School Humanities Teacher

ROLE SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and student-centred Senior School Humanities Teacher to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year. The successful candidate will teach a range of Ontario secondary courses, including HSB4U, ENG2D, CHY4U, HRT3M, and HHS4U, while fostering academic excellence, critical thinking, and a genuine passion for the humanities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach Senior School Humanities and English courses in accordance with the Ontario Curriculum and Growing Success guidelines.
• Deliver engaging, student-centred lessons that promote critical thinking, inquiry, communication, and analytical skills.
• Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that challenges and inspires all learners.
• Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies and provide timely, meaningful feedback.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students and support their academic success.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues to plan curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Build strong relationships with students and families through proactive and effective communication.
• Maintain accurate records of student achievement and uphold high academic standards.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities, events, and school initiatives.
• Demonstrate professionalism and actively participate in departmental meetings and ongoing professional development.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum, Growing Success, and best practices in Humanities and English education.
• Experience teaching Senior Division Humanities and English courses in Canadian schools.
• A proven ability to engage, motivate, and support students to achieve their full potential.
• Excellent classroom management, organizational, and time management skills.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a high-performing team.
• A warm, positive, and student-focused approach to teaching and relationship building.
• A reflective, proactive attitude with a commitment to continuous professional growth and innovation.
• Experience in Ontario independent or private schools and a willingness to contribute to extracurricular programs are considered strong assets.
