ROLE SUMMARY:

The International School of Milan is seeking a talented and committed English Teacher to join the Secondary School from August 2026. The successful candidate will teach English across the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP), delivering engaging and challenging lessons that develop students’ analytical thinking, communication skills and appreciation of literature. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and high-performing English department within a well-established IB school.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach English across the IB MYP and DP (Language & Literature and/or Literature)
  • Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with IB philosophy
  • Prepare students for IB assessments, including Internal Assessments and final examinations
  • Support students in developing critical thinking, writing and analytical skills
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback
  • Contribute to curriculum development and collaborative planning within the department
  • Maintain high standards of teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Engage positively with parents and the wider school community
  • Contribute to the broader life of the school, including extracurricular activities
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential

  • A degree in English or a related subject
  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for literature and language
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A collaborative and student-centred approach to teaching
  • Legal right to live and work in Italy (EU passport or valid work permit)

Desirable

  • Experience teaching IB MYP and/or DP English
  • Experience in an international school environment
  • Experience preparing students for IB assessments
  • Italian language skills (advantageous but not essential)
