ROLE SUMMARY:

 

The International School of Milan (ISM) is seeking for a responsible and experienced Residential Secondary Deputy – Camp Boarding Coordinator to join the Fashion, Art & Design Summer Camp team based at ISM in Baranzate for the full camp period from Thursday 25 June to Sunday 26 July 2026 (with arrival required on Wednesday 24 June for operational readiness). The role also includes 16 hours of remote work prior to the start of the camp.

 

The Fashion, Art & Design Summer Camp is a creative and educational residential programme for international students aged 12–17. It combines learning in fashion design and creation processes, sustainability topics, cultural experiences, excursions in Milan and its surroundings, and a rich programme of evening activities.

 

Reporting to the Camp Head of Boarding and working closely with the Camp Director, the Camp Boarding Coordinator provides continuous pastoral care to boarding and day students while also supporting the supervision and coordination of Residential and Day Monitors.

 

The role involves active participation in daily decision-making, incident and emergency management, and the effective handling of sensitive situations involving students, staff and families, in close collaboration with camp leadership to ensure safeguarding, clear communication and consistent boarding procedures.

 

This is a residential role, with accommodation and meals provided on site. Staff work on a rotational and flexible timetable, including evening, late and overnight duties, and are expected to remain available on site outside scheduled hours in case of emergencies, except during designated day and night off periods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provide high-quality pastoral care to boarding and day students, ensuring their physical, emotional and social wellbeing.
  • Uphold safeguarding standards and manage student behaviour in line with ISM policies.
    Ensure students are appropriately supervised at all times, on campus and during off-site activities and excursions.
  • Support students who are unwell or injured, working closely with the Head of Boarding and camp nurse.
  • Coordinate and supervise free-time, sports and evening activities, ensuring they are age-appropriate and well organised.
  • Assist the Head of Boarding in supervising and coordinating Residential and Day Monitors, ensuring consistent standards of care and supervision.
  • Ensure staff follow all boarding and school procedures and uphold ISM standards at all times.
  • Act as Deputy to the Head of Boarding when required.
  • Maintain and update daily boarding and operational logs, escalating concerns promptly to camp leadership.
  • Support communication with families, including the handling of sensitive situations involving students, staff and families.
  • Ensure the consistent implementation of boarding routines and procedures, including attendance, mealtimes, medication, bedtime and night duties.
  • Prepare and manage daily operational documentation, including attendance registers and contact lists.
  • Manage student valuables, passports and pocket money in accordance with ISM procedures.
  • Support the organisation and supervision of arrivals, departures and airport transfers.
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies, complete incident reports, carry the duty phone and remain on call as required.
  • Attend mandatory training days, planning sessions and staff meetings.
  • Comply with all ISM policies, safeguarding procedures and health & safety regulations, maintaining strict confidentiality of all student, family and staff information.
  • Support the collection and management of required student documentation, including medical forms, consent forms, dietary needs and travel information.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • English language proficiency at Advanced or Proficiency level (C1–C2).
  • Experience working with children or teenagers in educational, recreational or residential settings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a large team in a fast-paced camp environment.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and professionalism when working in a residential context with minors.
  • Ability to remain calm and responsive in emergency or high-pressure situations.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, overnight duties and weekends.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, families and colleagues.
  • High standards of personal hygiene and professional appearance.
  • Valid permission to work within Italy/EU.
  • Ability to provide a valid police background check (criminal record certificate) prior to the start of camp.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.

CONTRACT

 

Remote preparation work: 16 hours of remote work from May to training days (to be agreed and aligned with the Camp Director)


On-site:

Period: From Thursday 25 June to Sunday 26 July 2026.

Arrival: Arrival is required on Wednesday 24 June to ensure full operational readiness from the following morning.

  • Training Days: 25–27 June 2026
  • Summer Camp:
    • Session 1: 28 June – 11 July 2026
    • Session 2: 12 July – 25 July 2026
  • Last Working Day: Sunday 26 July 2026 (until 1:00 pm)

Salary: € 4000 gross for the full contractual period.

Included: Accommodation, meals, accident insurance.

Travel reimbursement: Up to €100 (upon submission of receipts).

Day Off: One full day and one night off per week. Except for scheduled time off, residential staff are required to remain on site overnight to ensure availability in case of emergencies, unless otherwise agreed in advance with the Camp Director
