Physics Teacher (DP)

ROLE SUMMARY:

To start in August 2025, ISM is seeking a talented, well-qualified, and inspirational IB DP Physics Teacher.

The role involves teaching IB Diploma Programme (DP) Physics and contributing to the development of our Science department. Candidates should be passionate educators with significant experience teaching Physics, committed to high academic standards, and able to foster scientific inquiry in an engaging and innovative way. Applicants should be collaborative team players, dedicated to excellence in both practical and theoretical aspects of physics education. Experience in supporting students for IB external assessments is essential.An understanding of how to develop students whose first language is not English will also be key in supporting our diverse, multicultural classrooms. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact within a successful and growing IB Science department.

The School:

Founded in 1958, ISM caters to over 900 students from more than 60 nationalities. Our modern campus, which opened in September 2013, includes a theatre, swimming pool, full-size gymnasium, specialist classrooms, science labs, libraries, and dedicated arts and music areas. ISM is fully authorised for all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP) from Kindergarten to Grade 6, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) from Grades 7 to 11, and the Diploma Programme (DP) in Grades 12 and 13. As the most established IB World School in Italy, ISM has an excellent track record of success, with IB Diploma results averaging 34/35 points. In 2018, we also launched our Boarding School, further enhancing the sense of community at ISM.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Experience in an international or multicultural school.
• Experience working with students who have English as an Additional Language (EAL).
• Specialisation or experience in delivering IBDP Physics.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Hold an EU / have the right to live and work in Italy.
• A degree in Physics or a closely related field, along with teaching certification.
• Outstanding classroom results and experience preparing students for IB external exams.
• Minimum of two years of teaching experience, preferably within the IB curriculum.
• Experience with the IB Diploma Programme (DP) Physics curriculum.
• A passion for physics education and the ability to engage students in both practical and theoretical learning.
• Willingness to contribute to the ongoing development of the High School Science department.
• Commitment to fostering a positive IB learning environment.
• Strong teamwork skills, both within the Science department and in interdisciplinary settings.
• Dedication to the IB Learner Profile and IB educational philosophy.
