ROLE SUMMARY:

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and inspirational Physical Education Teacher for our Colonna Campus to commence employment in late August 2025. In order to be considered for this role, you must hold an EU passport and/or hold a visa giving you the right to work in Italy.

 

St Louis School in Milan is a private international school which caters for 1,800 children from the ages of 2 to 18. For students aged 2 to 14 years, Foundation Stage to Year 9, our Colonna Campus offers a curriculum based on the British National Curriculum. Our students achieve exceptionally well, operating at a high level of fluency in English, knowing that approximately 80% of our students are not English first language speakers. After Year 9, our students move to the High School where they study the IGCSE and IB Diploma Programme (IBDP).

The Physical Education Teacher will deliver a curriculum based on the British National Curriculum. Candidates should be well-qualified educators with a strong background in teaching PE across primary and lower secondary years. The successful candidate will be committed to high standards, demonstrate an innovative and imaginative approach to teaching and learning, and show a willingness to support the broader life of the school through co-curricular activities and events. The school has a recently renovated, although small indoor facility, access to a basketball court and 7-a-side football pitch on the school grounds, and hires the ASD Aurora facilities and Jacaranda swimming pool nearby for PE lessons.

 

You will be joining a friendly and professional PE department comprising two other teachers and a PE Teaching Assistant. Applicants must be active, flexible participants in a dedicated and collaborative team. Experience in an international, bilingual or multilingual context is highly desirable, along with a strong understanding of how to support learners whose first language is not English.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be fully qualified and experienced in working with children from 2 to 14 years and able to adapt quickly to a new and exciting learning environment.
  • Be a flexible, communicative professional with strong empathy skills who values positive teacher/student/parent relationships in a diverse and stimulating learning environment.
  • Show a strong commitment to purposeful learning and teaching, collaborative planning and open communication.
  • Be willing to be an active, resilient participant in a very hard-working team of teachers.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • An appropriate degree with Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent internationally recognised teaching qualification.
  • Excellent oral and written English (native level or equivalent fluency).
  • Proven ability to engage students and work collaboratively with colleagues while maintaining high standards of teaching and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • Enthusiasm, commitment and a positive approach to school life.
  • A flexible, team-oriented mindset and the ability to create a supportive, challenging and effective learning environment.
  • At least five years’ teaching experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of teaching the UK National Curriculum.
  • An EU passport or a valid visa enabling work in Italy is essential

 

Please note that this role is not suitable for newly qualified teachers (NQTs).
