ROLE SUMMARY:

We are seeking an outstanding Science Teacher, ideally with the ability to contribute to the teaching of Geography, to join our team at Saint Louis School Caviglia, located in the south of Milan. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and knowledgeable subject specialist who is eager to teach curious, motivated students within a high-achieving and supportive school community. 

 

Saint Louis School Caviglia is renowned for its strong academic standards and its warm, welcoming ethos. Our students follow the English National Curriculum through to the end of Key Stage 3. After this the majority progress to study IGCSE and ultimately the IB Diploma Programme at our sister High School, where outcomes consistently rank among the very best in Italy and Europe. 

 

The Caviglia curriculum is broad, rigorous, and forward-thinking, with a strong emphasis on subject specialism, interdisciplinary learning, and real-world application. The ability to link scientific concepts with Geography, particularly in areas such as environmental science, sustainability, climate, and human impact, is a valued part of this role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons, with the opportunity to contribute to Geography where appropriate.
  • Inspire students through practical, enquiry-based learning and real-world applications.
  • Use assessment effectively to monitor progress, inform planning, and support achievement.
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all students and support wellbeing.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and interdisciplinary learning.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and academic standards.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
  • Engage positively in wider school life, including enrichment activities and events.
  • Participate in professional development and quality assurance processes.
  • Communicate professionally with students, colleagues, and parents, and always represent the school positively.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by school leadership. 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A bachelor’s degree in science or a related subject, plus a PGCE or other recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Science within the English National Curriculum and/or international curricula (experience of IGCSE and IB is advantageous).
  • The ability and willingness to contribute to the teaching of Geography.
  • A passion for delivering a high-quality, engaging Science curriculum.
  • High professional standards and a strong commitment to student achievement and wellbeing.
  • Confident communication skills and a collaborative, flexible approach.
  • Resilience and adaptability within a dynamic international school environment.
  • Openness to quality assurance and continuous improvement processes.
  • Some knowledge of Italian is desirable but not essential.
  • A genuine enjoyment of working with students in a diverse, international setting.
