ROLE SUMMARY:
St. Louis School (Archinto) requires an IB Diploma Programme Philosophy teacher available to begin teaching in September 2025. Philosophy is a well-established course at St. Louis School, and some of our most dedicated and hard-working students enrol in the subject. As a Philosophy teacher, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the IB Philosophy course to Year 12 and Year 13 pupils, and helping our very capable Philosophy students reach their full potential in the subject. The successful candidate will be effective at preparing students for external examinations, as well as guiding them through the course’s internal assessment. The successful candidate will also work with the school to foster enthusiasm for Philosophy as a subject in the school. The ability to teach another subject, such as IGCSE Global Perspectives or IB Theory of Knowledge, will be an advantage.

JOB SPECIFICATION:
The expected duties and responsibilities of the successful applicant will be:

Responsibility for managing the Philosophy curriculum including
• Establishing and reviewing schemes of work for IB Philosophy.
• Establishing effective methods of assessment of student’s work and analysing the results.
• Fostering, by example, a spirit of academic enquiry within the Humanities department.
• Keeping up-to-date with Philosophy subject developments.
• Managing the organisation/generation of excellent resources for IB Philosophy. -
Responsibility for managing the pupils being taught in the department, including:
• Fostering high standards of academic work.
• Ensuring effective use of pupil tracking data.
• Effective scrutiny of pupil work.
• Monitoring pupil progress and providing intervention where necessary.
• Ensuring that pupils with SEND are catered for.
• Advising students with options choices relevant to the subject and with university applications. -
An effective contribution to pastoral care in the School, including:
• Working as a form tutor, and supporting the members of the form in their academic and personal development.
• Undertaking supervisory duties in the school as required. -
Attend staff meetings, whole school staff training, parents’ evenings and any other functions as required by the Head of School or Deputy Heads.

Fulfil personal requirements where appropriate with regard to school policies and procedures, particularly safeguarding, health and safety, equal opportunities, customer care and promotion of the School’s core values.
