Head of Academic PE

ROLE SUMMARY:

St Louis High School is seeking to appoint a talented, well-qualified, and inspirational Head of Academic PE to join our High School, situated in the heart of Milan. The role involves teaching Cambridge IGCSE initially, with IB Diploma Programme Sports, Exercise and Health Science needed from September 2025. Candidates should be  well-qualified educators with significant experience in teaching Physical Education, committed to high standards, able to demonstrate an innovative and imaginative approach to teaching and learning, display a willingness to be involved in all aspects of departmental development and be a dedicated team player who strives for excellence and leads by example. There is one other member of the department. The school has a well equipped gym facility and uses external grounds for sporting fixtures and training. An understanding of how to develop students whose first language is not English will be important.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Hold an EU passport / have the right to live & work in Italy
• Appropriate degree and teaching certification
• Outstanding classroom results and experience with external exam preparation
• Minimum of two years of teaching experience
• Experience of working with the IB curriculum
• A passion for education and working with students
• A willingness to participate in the development of the High School
• A desire to contribute and foster a positive IB learning community
• Ability to work as a team member within a department and in an interdisciplinary team
• Commitment to the IB standards and practices and to the IB Learner Profile
• Superior communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills

PREFERRED:

• Experience in an international or multicultural school
• Experience of working with students who have English as an Additional Language
