English Teacher (IB DP and IGCSE) & SENDCo

ROLE SUMMARY:

St. Louis School Archinto is seeking a talented and committed English Teacher & SENDCo to join the school from August 2026. This is a hybrid role combining teaching IB Diploma Programme and IGCSE English with SENDCo responsibility, leading the provision for students with additional learning needs across the High School.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality English teaching while also driving inclusive practice, supporting students with diverse learning profiles, and working closely with staff and families to ensure all learners can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach English within the IB Diploma Programme (Language & Literature and/or Literature) and IGCSE English Language and Literature
• Plan and deliver engaging, analytical and skills-based lessons aligned with IB philosophy
• Prepare students for Internal Assessments and IB examinations
• Lead the SEND provision across the High School (0.75 allocation)
• Identify students requiring additional support and oversee appropriate interventions
• Develop and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and access arrangements
• Support teachers with differentiation strategies and inclusive classroom practice
• Liaise with parents, external specialists and examination boards where required
• Ensure compliance with IB and exam board requirements for access arrangements
• Promote a culture of inclusion, wellbeing and student support
• Contribute to the wider life of the school and uphold safeguarding procedures 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential

• A degree in English
• A recognised teaching qualification
• Experience teaching English at upper secondary level
• Experience supporting students with additional learning needs
• Strong understanding of inclusive education and differentiation strategies
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Ability to balance teaching and leadership responsibilities effectively
• Legal right to live and work in Italy (EU passport or valid work permit) 

Desirable

• Experience teaching IB Diploma Programme English and IGCSE
• Previous experience as a SENDCo or in a learning support leadership role
• Familiarity with IB and IGCSE access and inclusion policies
• Experience in an international school setting
• Italian language skills (advantageous but not essential)
