Secondary English Teacher

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Wingate School (TWS) is an Inspired Education Group school located in Mexico City and an accredited Cambridge International School and IB World School that offers an educational programme focused on academic excellence, creativity, and human formation.

TWS teaches the International Early Years Curriculum in Kinder, the International Primary Curriculum, and the Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum. The school is a member of the Latin American Heads Conference, was awarded the Foundation Level of the British Council’s International School Award, and was recently named “One of the 10 best international schools in Latin America” by The Knowledge Review.

Our team is growing, and we are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated  English Teacher to join our dynamic Secondary team in August 2027. The successful candidate will inspire a love for literature and language, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and strong communication skills while encouraging students to become confident and independent learners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and deliver engaging English Language Arts lessons aligned with international standards for Middle School.
• Foster critical thinking, creativity, and a love of literature and writing in students.
• Differentiate instruction to support students with diverse learning needs and language backgrounds.
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support cross-curricular learning and school initiatives.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom culture that promotes student agency and respect.
• Maintain open communication with parents and participate in school meetings and events.
• Contribute to the co-curricular life of the school, including clubs, activities, or events.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• A Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
• A PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) or equivalent internationally recognized teaching qualification is essential.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching English at the middle school level.
• Strong command of the English language (native or near-native fluency).
• Experience with international curricula or inquiry-based learning approaches.
• A student-centered approach and ability to build strong relationships with adolescents.
• Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
• A collaborative, innovative mindset and commitment to continuous professional growth.
