ROLE SUMMARY:
The Wingate School (TWS) is an accredited Cambridge International School and an IB World School in Mexico City that offers an educational programme focussed on academic excellence, creativity and human formation. TWS teaches the International Early Years Curriculum in Kinder, the International Primary Curriculum, and the Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum. The school is a member of the Latin American Heads Conference, was awarded the Foundation Level of British Council’s International School Award and was recently named "One of the 10 best international schools in Latin America" by The Knowledge Review
We are looking to appoint a dedicated Librarian who will join our team from August 2025 to support the learning journey of our students by managing and enriching the school’s library resources and environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Record, seal, label, and cover new book acquisitions accurately
- Organize and maintain library collections by sections (e.g., Fiction, Science, History, Picture Books, Fairy Tales, Level Reading, Class Sets, Teacher Resources), arranged alphabetically by author’s last name; implement Dewey Decimal system where applicable
- Maintain order in the library, encouraging students to return books to their correct places after use
- Decorate and adapt the library space to reflect the school year’s seasons, important dates, and curriculum themes
- Update and manage the library platform (e.g., Librarika) each school year according to student registration and daily book lending/return records
- Assist teachers in sourcing suitable reading and research materials for their classes
- Help students find books for leisure reading and academic work, providing warm and patient support
- Acquire new books and reading sets aligned with curriculum needs and student interests
- Coordinate library schedules and activities for student groups, ensuring a safe and attentive environment; occasionally read aloud to students
- Respond promptly and professionally to requests from school leadership and staff related to library services
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, English Literature, or a related field
- Proven experience working in a library setting, preferably within an educational environment
- Proficiency with library management platforms such as Librarika or similar software
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, able to engage warmly with students, teachers, and staff
- Patience, flexibility, and adaptability in managing diverse student needs and library tasks
- A positive attitude, integrity, and respect for confidentiality
- The ability to manage work independently with self-discipline and focus
- Knowledge of safeguarding and inclusion policies within a school context
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, to effectively communicate within the bilingual school environment
