ROLE SUMMARY:
The Wingate School (TWS) is an accredited Cambridge International School and an IB World School in Mexico City that offers an educational programme focussed on academic excellence, creativity and human formation. TWS teaches the International Early Years Curriculum in Kinder, the International Primary Curriculum, and the Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum. The school is a member of the Latin American Heads Conference, was awarded the Foundation Level of British Council’s International School Award and was recently named "One of the 10 best international schools in Latin America" by The Knowledge Review.
We are looking to appoint our Head of Secondary who can join our team in August 2026. The Head of Secondary will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Secondary School, ensuring excellence in teaching and learning, student wellbeing, and academic outcomes. Reporting directly to the Head of School, this leader will inspire staff, engage parents, and foster a culture of high expectations, innovation, and collaboration aligned with The Wingate School’s values and Inspired’s global standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide visionary leadership to the Secondary School, setting high academic and pastoral standards.
- Oversee the effective delivery of the English National Curriculum, IGCSE, and IB Diploma Programme.
- Lead, motivate, and support teachers to ensure continuous professional growth and a culture of reflective practice.
- Monitor and evaluate teaching quality and student progress, using data to inform decisions and improve outcomes.
- Collaborate with the Head of School and Senior Leadership Team on whole-school initiatives, policies, and development plans.
- Ensure a strong pastoral system that supports students’ wellbeing, discipline, and personal development.
- Promote a vibrant co-curricular programme and foster student leadership opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with parents, ensuring transparency, trust, and engagement in the life of the school.
- Support student recruitment, admissions, and marketing efforts as a key ambassador for the Secondary School.
- Manage budgets, staffing, and resources efficiently within the Secondary section.
- Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection in all aspects of school life.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A degree in Education (or related field) and a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).
- Significant leadership experience within a high-performing international or British curriculum school.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and inspire excellence.
- Strong understanding of the English National Curriculum, IGCSE, and IB Diploma.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to motivate staff and build a positive culture.
- Commitment to student wellbeing, inclusion, and holistic development.
- A forward-thinking mindset and passion for innovation in teaching and learning.
- Fluent English (Spanish desirable but not essential).
