ROLE SUMMARY:
King's School Infant School Chamartín is seeking an outstanding and enthusiastic Year 2 Teacher to join our dedicated team. Reporting to the Key Stage 1 Leader, the successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching and learning, supporting pupils as they transition from EYFS into the more structured environment of Key Stage 1 while fostering independence, resilience, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
In addition to their class teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will take on the role of English Coordinator, leading the development of English across the school and promoting excellence in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons in line with the English National Curriculum.
- Support the academic, social, and emotional development of Year 2 pupils.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment where all children can thrive.
- Assess, monitor, and support pupil progress to ensure high levels of achievement.
- Lead the strategic development of English across the school, ensuring consistency and high standards in teaching and learning.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and school leaders to support pupil success.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school through enrichment activities and events.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching within Key Stage 1, ideally Year 2.
- Strong knowledge of the English National Curriculum and effective primary teaching practices.
- A passion for literacy and experience leading or contributing to curriculum development.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all pupils.
- A background in the Creative Arts, particularly Music and Drama, with the ability to deliver specialist teaching to pupils in Reception and Key Stage 1.
