Teacher of English as an Additional Language and Cover (EYFS to Year 4)

ROLE SUMMARY:

At the forefront of British education internationally, King’s College School La Moraleja is seeking to appoint an inspiring, collaborative and forward-thinking professional to the position of ‘Teacher of English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Cover’, on a permanent basis, for pupils in our school aged between 9-16.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To deliver the school’s English as an additional language intervention scheme from Year 1 to Year 4.
• To work collaboratively with the Head of Admissions to identify students who are eligible for the EAL intervention scheme, preparing a timetable that ensures all students receive the support that they need throughout the academic year.
• To be an active member of the English department, supporting with EAL resources to enable diff erentiation and supporting the Primary Head of English in the day to day running of the department.
• To work collaboratively with the EAL teacher on Alcobendas site and ensure the smooth transition of EAL pupils from Year 4 to Year 5.
• To cover planned and unexpected teacher absences in the school, as directed by the cover manager.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Bachelor Degree (essential)
• TEFL Q and / or QTS with a specialism in teaching English as a foreign language.
• Professional development to prepare for leadership: NPQSL / CPML or equivalent (desirable)
• At least 2 years’ teaching experience either teaching English as a foreign language to young learners, or in British National Curriculum schools either in the UK or internationally
• Evidence of consistently outstanding teaching
• Evidence of contributing to, or driving, successful academic results
