ROLE SUMMARY:

 

A well-established international British secondary school in Madrid is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher of Science, ideally with a specialism in Chemistry. The successful candidate will teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, contribute to a dynamic Science faculty, and help foster a culture of curiosity, scientific thinking, and academic excellence. The ability to teach iGCSE Chemistry would be a significant advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality Science lessons that inspire students across KS3 and KS4.

  • Contribute to a strong departmental ethos built on purpose, high expectations, and a love of scientific learning.

  • Support the implementation of effective quality-assurance processes to ensure excellent teaching and learning.

  • Collaborate on the development of curriculum plans, schemes of work, and teaching resources.

  • Model exceptional classroom practice and support colleagues’ professional growth.

  • Ensure compliance with all school policies, including those for safeguarding, behaviour, health and safety, and professional conduct.

  • Provide appropriate work for classes in the event of staff absence and support whole-school duties as required.

  • Ensure that students meet or exceed progress and attainment targets in Science.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Minimum of two years’ experience teaching Science within the British National Curriculum (UK or international).

  • Strong track record of excellent classroom practice and positive student outcomes.

  • Ability to use assessment effectively to guide planning and improve achievement.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to form positive working relationships.

  • Desirable: Experience teaching iGCSE Chemistry, subject leadership experience, or relevant leadership-focused professional development (e.g., NPQ).
