The role focuses on high-quality healthcare, emergency response, chronic condition support, health education, accurate record-keeping, and contributing to a safe, healthy school environment. This is not a general medical practice role; parents remain responsible for seeking medical care for illnesses requiring treatment at home.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide outstanding medical care, including first aid, minor injury treatment, emergency response and support to first aiders.

  • Maintain accurate medical records, accident logs and medication administration records.

  • Manage first aid supplies, prepare medical kits for trips and liaise with emergency services when needed.

  • Monitor and communicate students’ health needs, allergies and dietary requirements.

  • Contribute to safeguarding procedures, raising concerns promptly and working closely with the DSL.

  • Support health education across the school and advise on health policies and infection control.

  • Coordinate Individual Healthcare Plans (IHCPs) for students with chronic conditions.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and pastoral teams to promote student well-being.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Registered nursing qualifications and first aid certification.

  • Experience working with children or in an educational setting (preferred).

  • Strong emergency response skills and confidence managing chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, allergies).

  • Excellent communication, confidentiality and record-keeping skills.

  • A proactive, calm and compassionate approach, with the ability to work collaboratively across the school community.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding procedures and health regulations.
