ROLE SUMMARY:
King’s College School, La Moraleja—one of Inspired’s flagship schools—is seeking to appoint a proactive, highly organised, and safety-conscious Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic Science Department from late August 2025. This is a permanent role, offering the opportunity to play a key part in supporting science education across the secondary school

As Laboratory Technician, you will support the delivery of practical science across KS3, IGCSE, and A-Level, maintaining a safe and efficient lab environment and working closely with teachers to prepare high-quality practical resources. You will ensure all science laboratories meet the highest standards of safety and organisation while also helping to bring science learning to life.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and set up practical equipment, materials, and chemicals for lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised laboratory environment in line with current health and safety regulations.
- Support teachers with in-class practical work, including demonstrations and small group supervision when required.
- Manage the storage and disposal of chemicals, biological specimens, and hazardous materials appropriately.
- Monitor stock levels, place timely orders for laboratory supplies, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Assist in the development and testing of new experiments and teaching resources.
- Contribute to risk assessments and support the Head of Science in quality assurance practices.
- Collaborate with science teaching staff to ensure smooth lesson delivery and continuous improvement in practical provision.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in Science, Maths, and English (essential).
- A-Level science subjects or vocational qualifications in laboratory practice (desirable).
- Previous experience in a school science department or professional laboratory setting (desirable).
- A strong working knowledge of scientific principles and laboratory procedures.
- Understanding of current health and safety legislation, especially in educational contexts.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work calmly under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple requests.
- A positive, flexible approach and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to supporting young learners.
- A clear understanding of the importance of safeguarding and child protection in schools.
