ROLE SUMMARY:

 

King’s College School, La Moraleja, a leading British international school in Madrid, is seeking an adaptable and enthusiastic Teacher of Humanities/PE to join our secondary team. This role is ideal for either a PE specialist able to teach KS3 Humanities (History/Geography) or a Humanities specialist able to contribute to Secondary PE. We are flexible for the right candidate and welcome applications from teachers with a passion for fostering curiosity, resilience, and a love of learning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across Humanities and/or PE, aligned with departmental and whole-school expectations.

  • Contribute to a strong departmental ethos built on purpose, pride, and excellent teaching and learning.

  • Support the implementation of robust quality-assurance processes within the subject areas.

  • Lead by example as an excellent classroom practitioner who inspires students and promotes lifelong learning.

  • Support colleagues’ development and ensure appropriate work is set in cases of staff absence.

  • Uphold all school policies relating to safeguarding, behaviour, health and safety, and professional standards.

  • Assist in curriculum development, departmental planning, and creation of teaching resources.

  • Work collaboratively with Heads of Humanities and PE to maintain high standards across the departments.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in British National Curriculum schools (UK or international).

  • Evidence of strong classroom practice and positive academic impact.

  • Strong understanding of assessment for learning and data-informed planning.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective professional relationships.

  • Desirable: ability to contribute to Further curriculum areas, KS coordination experience, leadership-focused professional development (e.g., NPQ).
