ROLE SUMMARY:

 

A prestigious international school located in the Madrid area and part of the Inspired Education Group is seeking to appoint a Secondary English Coordinator.

This is a strategic leadership role, ideal for an experienced educator with strong academic credentials, proven team management skills, and a passion for innovative teaching and learning. The position combines academic coordination with classroom teaching responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Lead the Secondary English Department, ensuring academic consistency and high standards across all levels.

  • Design and implement improvement plans, innovative methodologies, and effective assessment strategies.

  • Support, mentor and evaluate the teaching team, fostering a collaborative and reflective working culture.

  • Coordinate the English curriculum across the Secondary stage, including preparation for external examinations and certifications.

  • Teach English to Secondary students and contribute to the broader academic life of the school.

  • Communicate effectively with parents, senior leadership, and cross-departmental teams.

  • Promote interdisciplinary projects and cultural activities related to English language and literature.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • Native level of English.

  • A university degree and a Master’s in Education (or equivalent recognised teaching qualification).

  • Significant experience teaching English in Secondary education, preferably in bilingual or international school settings.

  • A strong track record in academic coordination, team leadership or middle management roles.

  • In-depth knowledge of active methodologies, assessment for learning, and modern language pedagogy.

  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • A passion for educational excellence and student-centred learning.

  • A high level of Spanish is desirable to support internal communication with colleagues and families.
