ROLE SUMMARY:

 

King’s College School, La Moraleja is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and inspiring English & Literature Teacher to join our Secondary School. The successful candidate will foster a deep appreciation of literature and the English language while maintaining high academic standards. The role includes teaching up to and including our public examination classes (currently Edexcel Pearson iGCSE), working collaboratively within a strong English department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Deliver high-quality English and Literature teaching aligned with the UK National Curriculum and school expectations.

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging schemes of work; provide effective feedback following school procedures.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of curriculum documentation and assessment requirements.

  • Track, assess, and report on student progress, maintaining all required records and statutory documents.

  • Meet with parents termly to discuss student achievement and progress.

  • Create a stimulating, positive learning environment that supports effective teaching.

  • Monitor and adapt teaching to ensure all students make strong progress, including through appropriate differentiation.

  • Provide pastoral support as a form tutor and contribute to the overall wellbeing of students.

  • Implement all welfare, safeguarding, Health & Safety, and attendance policies.

  • Participate in emergency procedures, staff meetings, training days, and team planning meetings.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for English language and literature.

  • Experience teaching the British National Curriculum, ideally including iGCSE.

  • Evidence of high-quality teaching and strong student progress.

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.

  • Ability to engage, motivate, and support students of varied abilities and needs.
