ROLE SUMMARY:

The role of the EYFS Teacher is to support the delivery of quality learning and teaching and to help raise standards of achievement for all pupils. To enable young children to make good progress in their learning by building upon the skills they have and to assist all pupils to develop emotional security, self-belief and mature social skills. The teacher will have outstanding knowledge and understanding of the EYFS Framework and be able to recognise the unique child and plan for their development using both the indoor and outdoor environment. To encourage the participation of pupils in the social and academic processes of the school, and enable pupils to become more independent learners.

The post will be placed in any of our EYFS classes from 1 year to 5 years old (Pre-Pre Nursery to Reception)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Reception Teacher has the following key responsibilities:

  1. Teaching and Learning:

    • Support pupils, staff, and the curriculum.
    • Plan and assess pupils’ learning, particularly in phonics (using Read Write Inc.), mathematics, and science (using White Rose).
    • Implement strategies to increase achievement, especially for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
    • Contribute to effective assessment and planning by monitoring pupil progress and using this to support those who may be underperforming.
    • Foster inclusion by encouraging participation in all learning and extracurricular activities.
    • Manage the learning environment effectively, maintaining safety and stimulation.
  2. Knowledge and Understanding:

    • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of the EYFS Framework.
    • Understand the role in providing high-quality education, particularly for pupils with SEND.
    • Keep up-to-date with personal development and best practices to enhance teaching effectiveness.
    • Apply curriculum knowledge to support teachers and pupils.
  3. Pastoral Care:

    • Uphold safeguarding and child protection standards.
    • Establish routines that promote respectful behavior and positive relationships.
    • Build trusting relationships with pupils, treating them with dignity and respect.
    • Support student well-being and engage with families for the student’s benefit.
  4. Professional Conduct:

    • Act professionally in all interactions, adhering to school policies and ethos.
    • Respect diversity and ensure that pupils’ well-being is safeguarded in line with statutory guidance.
    • Commit to improving personal practice through reflection and professional development.
    • Maintain high professional standards regarding attendance and punctuality.
  5. Working with Others:

    • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and carers to support pupil learning.
    • Communicate progress or concerns regarding pupils to other professionals and relevant parties to ensure informed decision-making.
  6. Additional Responsibilities:

    • Attend all staff meetings and participate in school decision-making and professional development.
    • Carry out break, lunch, and siesta duties as required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Bachelor Degree or PGCE/PGDE in Early Years Education (essential)
  • Qualified Teacher Status UK (essential)
  • The ability to work as part of an education group
  • Understanding of high quality teaching
  • Ability to build effective working relationships
  • Recent evidence of relevant CPD
