ROLE SUMMARY:

The International School of Ticino is seeking a committed and knowledgeable Biology & Chemistry Teacher to join the School from August 2026.

The successful candidate will teach Sciences across the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and, where appropriate, the Diploma Programme (DP), with a focus on Biology and Chemistry. The role requires a flexible and reflective practitioner who can deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons and support students across a range of abilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach Biology and Chemistry across IB MYP and DP
  • Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based and practical Science lessons
  • Prepare students for internal and external IB assessments
  • Support the development of scientific thinking, investigation and analytical skills
  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners
  • Monitor student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback
  • Contribute to curriculum development and departmental collaboration
  • Maintain high standards of laboratory safety and classroom practice
  • Engage positively with parents and the wider school community
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential

  • A degree in Biology, Chemistry or a related scientific field
  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching Science at secondary level
  • Strong subject knowledge across Biology and Chemistry
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • A collaborative and student-centred approach
  • EU passport (essential requirement)

Desirable

  • Experience teaching IB MYP and/or DP Sciences
  • Ability to teach both Biology and Chemistry to a high level
  • Experience in an international or multilingual school setting
  • Familiarity with IB assessment practices
  • Ability to contribute to extracurricular science activities
