ROLE SUMMARY:
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Year 5 Class Teacher who will foster a positive and engaging learning environment. The role involves delivering the full primary curriculum, preparing pupils for 11+ assessments, and supporting their academic and personal development. You will build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues, contributing to the wider life of the school and maintaining a classroom environment that encourages growth, respect, and high standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach all primary subjects to a high standard, following Chepstow House schemes of work.
- Work collaboratively with parallel teachers to plan creative, stimulating, and differentiated lessons.
- Mark and assess pupils’ work, recording progress, development, and attainment.
- Maintain good order, discipline, and respect among pupils to support a positive learning atmosphere.
- Build strong cooperative relationships with parents, communicating regularly on pupil progress.
- Maintain an attractive and stimulating classroom environment with up-to-date displays.
- Provide oral and written assessments, reports, and references for individual pupils and groups.
- Contribute to assemblies, concerts, school visits, and relevant wider school activities.
- Attend staff meetings, INSET training, and participate in appraisal and ongoing professional development.
- Supervise and support classroom assistants to ensure effective practice and adherence to procedures.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Experience teaching at primary level with the ability to deliver all subjects to a high standard.
- The ability to motivate pupils and promote positive attitudes to learning.
- Strong classroom management skills to maintain a respectful and effective learning environment.
- Confidence in working in partnership with parents and colleagues.
- A commitment to safeguarding, child welfare, and promoting British Values.
- An understanding of differentiated planning and assessment to support individual pupil needs.
- A professional approach to school policies, expectations, and community involvement.
- Smart, professional presentation in line with the school dress code.
