ROLE SUMMARY:
Wetherby Senior School was founded in 2015 and is a member of the Inspired Education Group of Schools. There are approximately 450 boys on roll, all of whom study at least one language for 5 years and we regularly add at least 0.5 of a grade Value Added at both IGCSE and A Level. Our students achieve grades that allow them to gain places at top UK universities such as; Cambridge, LSE, Imperial, Durham and UCL and universities abroard such as the University of Chicago, Georgetown, Princeton, Bocconi in Milan and the IE Business School Madrid.
At Wetherby Senior School we seek to employ highly professional teachers with the ability and commitment to enhance the life of the School and to work effectively and collaboratively with all members of the School community to further establish and develop the School. Our emphasis on educating the whole boy means that all members of staff are expected to contribute to the pastoral care of a group of students as a Form Tutor as well as contributing to the School’s co-curricular activities.
Wetherby Senior School are looking to appoint a Teacher of Computer Science to start September 2026. The Computer Science Department at Wetherby Senior consists at present of an experience Head of Computer Science, and another Subject Specialist teacher. The department is housed in two dedicated computer rooms at our Hannah House site. Computer Science is taught from Year 7-9 to all pupils; it is also a popular GCSE choice with currently two groups in Year 10 and two in Year 11. A Level Computer Science was introduced from September 2024 and has successfully allowed the school to expand the subject, with sets in both of Years 12 and 13.
We have been running OCR A-Level H046 specification and OCR GCSE J277 specifications successfully, with the emphasis on Python, Relational Databases, and Object-Oriented Programming.
At KS3, we offer a mixture of GCSE topics, combined with the portions of the old ICT syllabus in multimedia and Microsoft Office skills, covering advanced Scratch, Edublocks, Python, SQL, Photoshop, Excel, Stop Frame Animation, Vector Graphics and Desktop publishing principles, rounded out by video editing (DaVinci Resolve, Clipchamp, OBS) and electronic music production (Audacity, MPC Beats, Reaper).
In addition, the department has run coding, mobile app design, animation and robotics clubs for the pupils which have been very popular.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Contribute to the development and resourcing of the Computer Science Department
- Promote enthusiasm for Computer Science, enrichment activities, trips and competitions
- Participate fully in departmental meetings, administration and INSET to support teamwork and best practice
- Support pupils preparing for university entry in the UK (including Oxbridge), USA and Europe
- Contribute to pastoral care through tutoring and supervisory duties where required
- Engage in co-curricular activities and uphold high professional standards, policies and school values
