ROLE SUMMARY:

St Anthony’s is a Catholic Preparatory School (IAPS) for boys aged 2.5 – 13. It is Roman Catholic but welcomes boys of other faiths. The majority of boys transfer to leading Independent schools.

We are looking for a Singing Peripatetic Teacher to start in September 2025. They will be teaching pupils from Reception class up until Year 8. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • To teach stimulating and challenging lessons, according to the timetable, that bring out the best in pupils at any stage of their musical development, from beginner level to the most advanced pupils who wish to pursue musical studies.
  • To be aware of the need to differentiate work and set challenges according to the ability of the pupils, whilst maintaining high expectations of all and taking full account of any Special Educational Needs.
  • To prepare pupils for ABRSM/Trinity exams, termly concerts and performances as appropriate.
  • To schedule, monitor, record and report on pupils’ progress, including weekly feedback through the Involve app and/or a written notebook. 
  • To work as part of a team, in harmony with and for the furtherance of the school’s ethos and declared educational aims and priorities (including attending INSET meetings when required).
  • To attend concerts in which your pupils perform (when possible). 
  • To be a good role model and demonstrate high standards to pupils.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Professional Qualification in Music
  • Professional teaching qualification 
  • Experience of teaching 4-11 year old children in an independent school
  • Experience of teaching a range of musical styles and preparing children for graded music exams
  • A team  player with the ability to work flexibly as part of a diverse team
  • Approachable, open, and honest
  • Engaging and inspiring teaching style 
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and energetic with a sense of humour
  • Exemplary written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational and IT skills
