ROLE SUMMARY:

Wetherby Preparatory School is an independent boys’ preparatory school (ages 7 – 13) of 350 boys set in the dynamic area of Marylebone in London. Wetherby prepares its pupils for many of the top day and boarding senior schools in the country and therefore works at a level significantly above National Curriculum expectations. 

 

Wetherby Preparatory School is seeking a talented and dedicated Specialist Science Teacher to join our team, teaching across KS2 and KS3. This role is from September 2026 on a part time basis (0.8 FTE/4 days per week). 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, enquiry-based science lessons and practical experiments.
  • Teach biology, chemistry, and physics tailored for prep-school pupils.
  • Differentiate learning for mixed-ability classes and provide strong classroom management and pastoral care.
  • Track pupil progress and support assessment for learning.
  • Lead or contribute to science clubs and extra-curricular STEM activities.
  • Ensure all practical work meets health & safety requirements.
  • Support pupils’ transition from KS2 to KS3, working closely with colleagues to refine schemes of work.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Qualified teacher with experience teaching science across KS2 and KS3.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring pupils.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
