We are delighted to welcome applications from outstanding, dynamic and suitably experienced individuals for the role of Music Teacher, to start in September 2026. The role will be a key member of the school’s Creative Arts team and will have a particular specialism in Music. The successful candidate will have shared responsibility for all aspects of both curricular and co-curricular music in the school with the opportunity to contribute to other areas such as performances, performing arts and drama.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide musical leadership across the school, leading and developing choirs, orchestras, and ensembles.
  • Lead and oversee the curricular Music provision and contribute to Performing Arts teaching as required.
  • Support the Creative Arts Department and promote a strong culture of engagement in the arts.
  • Organise and deliver major school events including concerts, productions, services, and performances.
  • Coordinate performances, tours, and events, including venue booking, travel arrangements, and risk assessments.
  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons, schemes of work, and assessments in line with school policies.
  • Monitor pupil progress, set and mark work, prepare reports, and support preparation for assessments.
  • Differentiate teaching to support the progress and wellbeing of all pupils.
  • Contribute fully to co-curricular and extra-curricular Creative Arts programmes.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and participate in parents’ evenings, meetings, and school events.
  • Maintain high standards of classroom management, organisation, and learning environment.
  • Participate actively in departmental collaboration, assemblies, trips, and wider academic life.
  • Fulfil pastoral responsibilities, including form tutoring, duties, and safeguarding commitments.
  • Uphold school policies, professional standards, and contribute positively to the wider life of the school.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, including INSET and training opportunities. 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Strong subject knowledge with the ability to set high expectations, plan effectively, assess progress, and adapt teaching to meet pupils’ needs.
  • Experience teaching across Key Stages 1–3, including preparation for external assessment and contribution to pastoral care and pupil wellbeing.
  • Demonstrated interest and expertise in Music and Performing Arts, with musical proficiency equivalent to Grade 5 piano (or another primary instrument).
  • Confidence using ICT to support teaching and learning.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and administrative skills, with the ability to manage workload and work collaboratively.
  • Experience contributing to curriculum development and designing schemes of work.
  • A good university degree and PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification, with the appropriate right to work.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and able to motivate young people both academically and personally.
  • Commitment to professional development, safeguarding, equality of opportunity, and the wider life and ethos of the school.
