ROLE SUMMARY:

Wetherby Preparatory School is an independent boys’ preparatory school (ages 7 – 13) of 350 boys set in the dynamic area of Marylebone in London. Wetherby prepares its pupils for many of the top day and boarding senior schools in the country and therefore works at a level significantly above National Curriculum expectations. 

Wetherby Preparatory School is seeking a Music Graudate Assistant to join our team. This role is from September 2026 on a fixed-term basis.

The Music Graduate Assistant will support the music department in all aspects of its work, including administration and performance.The role involves assisting with the day-to-day running of the department, providing piano accompaniment for student performances, and supporting a vibrant and inclusive musical environment within the school.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide administrative support to the music department, including organising music resources, managing schedules, and assisting with communications
  • Assist in the delivery and organisation of music lessons, rehearsals, and concerts
  • Accompany students on the piano during rehearsals, performances, and examinations as required
  • Support the coordination and running of school musical events and assemblies
  • Help to maintain and organise musical instruments and equipment
  • Work collaboratively with staff, including peripatetic music teachers, to ensure smooth running of the department
  • Assist with supervision of pupils during music-related activities
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school as required

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Music degree or equivalent qualification (completed or nearing completion)
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in music performance or education
  • Experience in performing as a pianist, including accompaniment
  • Good organisational and time management abilities
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about music and music education
  • Reliable, flexible, and proactive
