ROLE SUMMARY:
Wetherby School is a thriving and highly successful non-selective, independent school in Notting Hill for boys aged 4 to 8. The school is heavily oversubscribed and extremely successful in securing pupils’ entry into the preparatory school of their choice.

Wetherby School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Specialist Teacher to join the team from January 2026 on a fixed term basis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan and deliver multisensory 1:1 and small group lessons for pupils with SEND

Set and review SMART targets through Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), working closely with class teachers and the Head of Learning Support.

Keep accurate records of assessment, progress, and evidence of learning.

Provide clear feedback and regular reports to parents and colleagues on pupil progress.

Collaborate with external specialists (e.g. speech and language therapists, OTs, educational psychologists) to ensure tailored support.

Support learning within the classroom and lead targeted interventions, such as phonics, reading programmes, and social skills groups.

Foster enthusiasm for learning and build confidence through positive interaction and encouragement.

Promote literacy and a love of reading across the school, including co-delivering reading interventions.

Contribute to a supportive, team-oriented environment and maintain positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.

Provide lesson cover when required, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to support whole-class teaching.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Have experience of Key Stage 1 or 2 and OCR Level 5 or equivalent.
- Have experience teaching children with SEND.
- Be an excellent practitioner who values children.
- Have high, though realistic expectations of the children.
- Have a thorough up-to-date knowledge of special educational needs.
- Be IT literate.
- Be committed to making a difference to all children of all abilities and talents,
using a variety of teaching styles to aid learning. - Be a committed, dynamic and pro-active teacher and a cheerful, friendly and
co-operative member of the staff. - Have experience in planning and delivering small group interventions (e.g. phonics, fine motor skills, and social groups) and targeted support programmes.
- Be confident in supporting literacy development, including the delivery of structured reading interventions such as Toe by Toe.
