ROLE SUMMARY:

Wetherby Kensington is a two form, non-selective, pre-preparatory school for boys from Reception to Year 3. It follows exactly the same curriculum and shares the same values and ethos as Wetherby School and is an integral part of the Wetherby Group of schools. Boys at Wetherby Kensington receive very high levels of academic education and pastoral care. Wetherby Kensington is part of the Alpha Plus Group of schools, which is one of the country's leading educational groups. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support for the Child: Work with the class teacher to foster a warm, caring environment; prepare and carry out delegated tasks; ensure the child's safety and access to learning; build a positive relationship tailored to his needs; assist with his Individual Learning Plan (ILP); encourage peer interaction and engagement; promote self-esteem and independence; provide progress feedback; and maintain positive relationships with parents.

Support for the Teacher: Maintain a purposeful classroom environment; monitor and record the child's progress and achievement; provide regular feedback to the teacher and parents; support lesson planning; and manage behaviour in line with school policy.

Support for the Curriculum: Deliver structured learning activities adjusted to the boy's responses; support literacy, numeracy and ICT programmes; and prepare and maintain resources required for lessons.

Support for the School: Comply with all school policies including safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection; support equal access to learning; contribute to the school's ethos and values; attend relevant meetings and training; accompany staff and pupils on educational visits; and promote the welfare of all children in your care, reporting any concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or Head.

4) General understanding of the National Curriculum

5) General understanding of child development and learning

6) Have the ability to think on their feet and adapt activities according to the needs of the individual

7) Be committed to making a difference to all children of all abilities and talents,

using a variety of teaching styles to aid learning

8) Be a committed, dynamic and pro-active LSA and a cheerful, friendly and

co-operative member of the staff

9) Be supportive and positive in their interactions with team members and pupils

10) Maintain excellent levels of appearance, attendance and punctuality

11) Value, and be willing to promote, the caring ethos of the school

Desirable

12) Be a fully qualified teacher

13) Have a thorough up-to-date knowledge of the teaching year group curriculum
