ROLE SUMMARY:

Falcons School, a co-educational, non-selective independent primary school is situated in Putney, south-west London. They are now looking for an inspirational teacher who is passionate about leading Mathematics throughout the whole school.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and experienced team-player, who will lead and shape the teaching of Mathematics within the school. The position requires someone who can develop and lead an engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils, providing them with the opportunities to achieve their individual best. Capable of stretching and inspiring pupils, they will demonstrate passion for the subject and the energy and desire to lead. The post involves teaching Maths in the upper part of the school across different ability ranges, with an emphasis on delivering engaging and inspiring lessons.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inspire and motivate staff and pupils to develop an enthusiasm for maths
Raising standards of pupil attainment and achievement throughout the school
To develop and oversee the implementation of an ambitious and engaging curriculum that provides all pupils with the opportunity to achieve their potential
Lead staff meetings and development relating to the implementation and review of new initiatives within the Maths department
Monitor and feedback to the SLT on the academic performance of the pupils, through effective use of assessment data and collaboration with colleagues
Organise and host maths curriculum events for parents as appropriate
Provide parents with information specifically related to the teaching of Maths throughout the school and the 11+ examination process
Actively maintain up to date subject knowledge and keep staff throughout the school aware of developments in Maths: Covering National Curriculum changes; 11+ curriculum and other relevant changes
Monitor teaching, marking and assessment of Maths to support other teaching staff in their own development

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

A good standard of education at degree level or above.
Qualified Teacher Status
Excellent subject knowledge
Inspirational maths teacher
Proven track record of outstanding teaching of Maths at KS2
An imaginative and engaging teacher who has the vision, experience and passion to instill a love of Maths in our pupils
Ability to set high standards in effective planning, marking, teaching, assessment and feedback
Ability to make effective use of assessment for learning strategies
A confident team player who can motivate and inspire pupils
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with colleagues and parents
