ROLE SUMMARY:
Wetherby School Kensington provides an environment that promotes educational excellence and tradition through a forward-thinking, holistic curriculum within which the needs of individual pupils are fostered.
Wetherby School Kensington is a school for boys from Reception to Year 3 and is two form entry per year group. The boys receive high levels of academic education and pastoral care. The Wetherby School Kensington boys begin their learning journey in Reception and can stay at Wetherby School Kensington until they are eight years old. Wetherby School Kensington can be found in Wetherby Gardens and is in a conservation area. The school overlooks the beautiful Wetherby Gardens.
With the opening of the Preparatory School in 2004, Wetherby boys have the opportunity to proceed through, or sit a competitive exam for, a London Day School.
Wetherby School Kensington are looking for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Head of Learning Support to join us from April 2025. The Head of Learning Support will be a member of the teaching staff at Wetherby School Kensington and will hold responsibility for the co-ordination of the planning, delivery, monitoring and review of the school’s learning support in conjunction with the Head and SMT. Please note that this role is a permanent, full time position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the planning and implementation of the learning support programme.
- Work in conjunction with and collaboratively with all members of the school teaching team.
- Work in conjunction with outside agencies where applicable to support the needs of pupils with special educational needs.
- Build relationships with parents, listen carefully to their concerns and maintain high standards of communication at all times.
- Liaise with colleagues including the gifted and talented leader and specialist teachers
- Plan, organise and teach pupils with SEN either in the classroom, individually or in small groups in accordance with school policy by setting and achieving the highest standards.
- Plan and teach effectively ensuring the needs of the pupils with SEN are met both inside and outside the classroom.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Be a fully qualified teacher
- Be excellent classroom practitioners who value children
- Have high, though realistic expectations of the children
- Have a thorough understanding of current research in the field of SEND and best practice
- Have additional qualifications relating to SEND
- Have an NPQ or NASENCO in relation to SEND
- Be IT competent
- Be committed to making a difference to all children of all abilities and talents, using a variety of teaching styles to aid learning
- Be a committed, dynamic and pro-active teacher and a cheerful, friendly and cooperative member of the staff
- Be supportive and positive in their interactions with team members and pupils
- Maintain excellent levels of appearance, attendance and punctuality
- Be fully involved in the life of the school
- Value, and be willing to promote, the caring ethos of the school
- Be a team player
