ROLE SUMMARY:

St Anthony’s is a co-ed nursery for pupils from ages 2 - 4 years of age, and a boys-only pre-prep and prep school from ages 4 - 13. It is Roman Catholic but welcomes boys of other faiths. The majority of boys transfer to leading Independent schools.

St Anthony’s School for Boys seeks to appoint a well qualified and inspirational Head of Humanities. The Faculty consists of History, Geography, and Religious Education taught as discrete subjects throughout the school. There has been considerable work on the curriculum in all three subjects over the last few years and the successful candidate will work closely with the Deputy Head Academic and class teachers to ensure teaching and learning is of the highest possible standard. Academic standards are high, even though the school is not super-selective, and the culture is to 'teach to the top’, which encourages all pupils to be stretched and challenged whatever their starting point. Academic outcomes are outstanding and have been so over the last five years as evidenced by the increasing number of senior school offers from places such as Westminster, St Paul’s, UCS, Highgate, Merchant Taylors’, Habs, Eton, Harrow and many others besides.

This post ideally is suited for an ambitious teacher keen to develop their leadership and management skills. They will have the capacity to contribute to the Scholarship programme as well as enriching the intellectual co-curricular life of the school, perhaps through debating or public speaking. They will be aligned with the ethos associated with a highly successful academic Catholic school. Suitably qualified candidates from either the Independent or State sector are encouraged to apply. St Anthony’s is a professional and purposeful environment but it is also a place of fun, laughter and, above all else, a kind and genuine community.

Interviews will take place as and when suitable applications are received, so early applications are encouraged.
