The Head of Examinations will have experience as a successful educator, possess QTS, and demonstrate excellent leadership, administrative and communication skills, expertise, and experience of working in the education sector and experience of working with a range of internal and external stakeholders

 

The Head of Examinations will report directly to the Head of Administration and work closely with exams officers, invigilators, Heads of Subjects, Heads of Key Stage and teaching staff to ensure the successful execution of examinations and external assessment.

 

The Head of Examiniations will:

 

Facilitate the management and effective delivery of examinations and assessments within the centre.
Ensure compliance with the published Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations and awarding body requirements in order to deliver the qualification(s) and conduct examinations and assessments in accordance with these regulations.
Adopt an ethical approach and work proactively to avoid malpractice among students and staff, taking all reasonable steps to prevent the occurrence of any malpractice/maladministration before, during the course of, and after examinations have taken place.
Ensure that all reasonable steps are taken to maintain the integrity of examinations/assessments, including the security of all assessment materials.
Support and guide the exams officer(s) in effectively and efficiently managing and administering external examinations in accordance with the JCQ regulations and/or awarding body requirements for examination administration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Manage and lead the Exam team and department 
•    Be aware of the contents, and annual changes, in a range of JCQ publications
•    Deliver qualifications in physical and online settings
•    Collaborate with Senior leadership teams, other Inspired Schools and awarding bodies 
•    Manage entries
•    Maintain accurate and updated records, instructions and information regarding examinations 
•    Present Maintain and update policies
•    Provide up to date training for staff 
•    Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding planning, entries and delivery of examination sessions and student results
•    Manage the Post-Results process and Appeals
•    Distribute certificates 
•    Manage access arrangements and reasonable adjustments

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

•    Experience of leading a team
•    Experience of overseeing and coordinating external examinations and non-examination assessments
•    Experience of developing and maintaining high standards in a school environment
•    Excellent organisational and planning skills 
•    Excellent IT skills and experience of working with multiple IT systems 
•    Excellent written and communication skills 
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders 
•    Knowledge of education in the British-style and the associated processes and procedures
•    Ability to work well in teams
