ROLE SUMMARY:

Chepstow House School is an established 3 form entry, Coed Prep with a nursery attached and outstanding facilities within the Notting Hill Gate area. It is a growing school offering opportunities for staff development and career progression. Little Chepstow Nursery are seeking to appoint a Part-Time Early Years Assistant to start in January 2026.  The working hours are 8:00am - 1.30pm

The Early Years Assistant will support the Nursery Lead Teacher and the team in the day to day running of the classroom. They will be involved in the planning, presenting and evaluation of lessons and activities in accordance with the E.Y.F.S. The successful candidate will oversee a group of Key Children and maintain records, write reports and keep up to date observations. They will also work closely within the wider nursery team. They will be required to liaise regularly with parents and promote and contribute to our ‘Parent Teacher Partnership’. The candidate should have a sound knowledge of the E.Y.F.S and child development and be willing to engage in training that will benefit their practice.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Facilitate learning by supporting planning and teaching according to the areas set out in the E.Y.F.S
  • Organise the classroom and resources as appropriate to ensure the smooth running of the group and their learning experiences.
  • Have a clear understanding of what constitutes quality care and education and to have a thorough knowledge of child development and the E.Y.F.S.
  • Encourage child-initiated tasks and provide differentiated work
  • To demonstrate a thorough knowledge of safeguarding children.
  • To understand what constitutes good health & safety practices.
  • To ensure that best practice is employed within Early Years teaching.
  • To provide a warm, caring and stimulating environment for the children.
  • To write positive reports on child’s progress in line with school report writing policy.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • A level 3 qualification in early years
  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner who values children.
  • Have high, though realistic expectations of the children.
  • Have a thorough up-to-date knowledge of the teaching year group curriculum.
  • Be IT literate and be able to use interactive whiteboard technology.
  • Be committed to making a difference to all children of all abilities and talents, using a variety of teaching styles to aid learning.
  • Be a committed, dynamic and pro-active teacher and a cheerful, friendly and cooperative member of the staff.
  • Be supportive and positive in their interactions with team members and pupils.
  • Maintain excellent levels of appearance, attendance and punctuality.
  • Involve themselves fully in the life of the school.
  • Value, and be willing to promote, the caring ethos of the school.
