ROLE SUMMARY:

The post holder will be a full-time member of staff at Wetherby Preparatory School assisting with general support for pupils, teachers, and the school. The below serves as a guide but is not exhaustive; all professional staff are expected to undertake other duties and projects as may be reasonably required by the Head in accordance with the grade of the post.

Wetherby Preparatory School are looking to appoint a Director of Music from January 2025!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • to initiate, develop and teach schemes of work as part of the curriculum at Wetherby Prep
  • to promote the development of the subject within the department and throughout the school and community setting and reviewing departmental targets on an annual basis
  • to monitor the effectiveness of the teaching of the department, supporting staff development and participating in appraisal arrangements
  • to foster an ethos of high expectations, professionalism, and enthusiasm throughout the department
  • to represent the department at Heads of Department meetings and at full staff meetings, liaising with other departments in the school and with the Senior Management Team in all matters concerned with the timetable and curriculum.
  • to liaise with the Head of Music at the Pre-Prep and Senior School to ensure continuity and progression throughout the key stages.
  • to monitor standards of achievements, ensuring that assessment of boys’ work is regular and thorough and that full records of work done and marks given are kept where appropriate.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Experience in a similar position
  • Experience of working in the independent sector
  • Experience line managing staff in an education setting
  • Experience with carrying out annual reviews and appraisals of peripatetic teachers
  • Ability to play 1 or more musical instruments
  • Team player
  • Positive and strong communicator
