Deputy Head of Key Stage 5

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Deputy Head of Key stage 5 will work closely with the Head of Key stage to strengthen and develop our objectives of delivering a safe, supported, and inclusive learning experience for all our students.

 

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of online teaching and the professional duties that need to be carried out to ensure that high quality teaching and pastoral care of all students are maintained and delivered effectively and consistently. They will be able to lead pastoral teams and liaise effectively with subject specialists to deliver a high-quality learning experience, as well as encouraging innovation and collaboration within the team.

 

The successful candidate will collaborate with the Head of Key stage 5 and play a significant role in formulating the aims and objectives of the Key stage, developing the systems, polices and process through which the aims and objectives will be achieved, managing staff and resources to meet the school’s aims and objectives and monitor progress towards achieving these.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    To assist the Head of Key stage 5 in shaping and sharing the vision and direction for the school, setting out high expectations and with a clear focus on student wellbeing and attainment
•    Be an ‘outstanding’ role model and act as a leading classroom practitioner. 
•    Focus on the student experience and service for families so that the highest quality education and support is maintained.
•    Working with the Head of Key stage 5 to sustain high expectations and outstanding practice in teaching and learning throughout the school.
•    Make effective use of data to monitor and support students.  
•    To undertake quality assurance activities to evaluate teaching and student progress across the Pastoral and Academic curriculum. 
•    Work with the Head of Key stage 5 to lead, motivate, support, challenge and develop all staff to secure continual improvement including their own continual professional development.
•    To be an exemplar of all school policies and practices.
•    To support the Head of Key stage 5 with Performance Management 
•    To participate in recruitment and selection, as agreed by the Head of Key Stage 5
•    Supporting the Head of Key stage 5 in accounting for the efficiency and effectiveness of the school to all relevant stakeholders.
•    Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the Key stage.
•    Deputise for the Head of Key stage 5 in their absence.
•    Take a major role in the day-to-day running of the school, attending weekly meetings and leading them as required.
•    Contribute to a positive ethos for learning and exemplify discretionary effort.
•    Promote the values and achievements of the school to the community.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • QTS or equivalent, other qualifications relevant to the role are desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of school systems and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent project and time management skills.
  • Excellent leadership, and people development skills.
  • Motivated to achieve excellence for self and others.
  • Experience of working with a diverse range of students, and knowledge of our full range of student requirements in Inspired Online Schools.
  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding and child protection in relation to school systems and processes
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills that showcase a dynamic and supportive stance to all stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail, confidence in handling data, and accuracy in work.
  • Confident and clear when speaking to large groups and stakeholders.
  • Collaborative.
  • Aspirational for the future success and growth of King’s InterHigh, with an understanding of how operational efficiency will contribute to this
