The Deputy Head of Key Stage 4 plays a central role in strengthening and developing the Key Stage’s mission of delivering a safe, supported, and inclusive online learning experience for all students. Working closely with the Head of Key Stage 4, the post-holder contributes to developing systems, policies, and processes, ensuring high-quality teaching, pastoral care, and academic outcomes are consistently delivered.

 

This role requires strong leadership, excellent understanding of online teaching practice, and the ability to motivate and support teams to deliver outstanding experiences for students and families. The Deputy Head of Key Stage 4 will support operational efficiency, drive continual improvement, and help shape the strategic goals of the Key Stage while modelling professional excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Support the Head of Key Stage 4 in shaping and sharing the vision and direction for the school, with a focus on student wellbeing and attainment.
  • Act as an outstanding role model and leading classroom practitioner.
  • Maintain high expectations and outstanding practice in teaching and learning.
  • Focus on delivering excellent student experience and high-quality service for families.
  • Use data effectively to monitor and support student progress.
  • Undertake quality assurance activities across pastoral and academic provision.
  • Lead, motivate, support, challenge, and develop staff to secure continual improvement.
  • Uphold all school policies and practices.
  • Support the Head of Key Stage 4 with performance management.
  • Participate in recruitment and selection where required.
  • Support accountability for the efficiency and effectiveness of the Key Stage.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
  • Deputise for the Head of Key Stage 4 when required.
  • Contribute to day-to-day operations, attending and leading weekly meetings.
  • Promote a positive ethos for learning and exemplify discretionary effort.
  • Represent and promote the school’s values and achievements within the wider community.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • QTS or equivalent (other relevant qualifications desirable).
  • Excellent knowledge of school systems and processes.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and time-management skills.
  • Strong leadership and people-development capabilities.
  • Motivation to achieve excellence for self and others.
  • Experience working with a diverse student body and understanding of needs across Inspired Online Schools.
  • Strong safeguarding and child protection knowledge.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to support stakeholders professionally.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidence when handling data.
  • Strong presentation skills with confidence addressing large groups.
  • Collaborative working style and strong team ethos.
