ROLE SUMMARY:
Wetherby School is a thriving and highly successful non-selective, independent school in Notting Hill for boys aged 4 to 8. The school is heavily oversubscribed and extremely successful in securing pupils’ entry into the preparatory school of their choice.

Wetherby School Notting Hill are looking for an Assistant Head (Wellbeing and Co-Curricular) to lead on the wellbeing and mental health of the boys, working closely with the Headmaster, Deputy Head, and Senior Management Team. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will develop and implement wellbeing initiatives, support staff in fostering a positive school culture, and oversee the Wellbeing Hub as a dedicated space for student support. You’ll also build relationships with external agencies to enhance our wellbeing provision and lead social groups for each year group. This is a fixed term role for 12 months, with the intention of turning permanent.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and be responsible for the boys and staff wellbeing and mental health
- Lead the staff in the development of the wellbeing of the boys throughout the school
- Responsible for the wellbeing hub and use this room purposefully for the benefit of the boys
- Create and maintain links with outside agencies that can support the boy’s wellbeing
- Organise and run social groups for each year group.
- Liaise with the class teachers and the Learning Support department in identifying boys who would benefit from social groups
- Act as Head of PSHEE and lead on the writing, the development and delivery of the PSHE (Learning for Life) curriculum alongside year group leaders
- Create and maintain links with charities and the local / wider community including organising termly charity events.
- Be the Deputy Safeguarding Lead and work closely with the DSL
- Responsible for the organisation and running of school clubs, external competitions and assemblies
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:
- Have an Honours degree, with a recognised teaching qualification and evidence of ongoing professional development
- Have knowledge of the curriculum for the Pre Preparatory age group
- Have previous management experience either as a middle manager, senior leader or assistant head
- Be an excellent and innovative classroom practitioner
- Have outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with a high level of IT skill
- Have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- Be able to plan, monitor, evaluate, audit and review proactively
- To be a Mental Health First Aider
