The Access Arrangement Officer plays a key role in ensuring Kings InterHigh delivers a compliant, efficient, and student-centred access arrangements service. Working closely with both the SEN and Exams teams, the postholder will coordinate and oversee access arrangement processes across all exam series, supporting a growing and diverse student population. This role is integral to maintaining compliance with JCQ regulations, promoting inclusive assessment practices, and enhancing the overall examination experience for students, staff, and stakeholders. As a dedicated specialist within this area, the Access Arrangement Officer will help drive operational excellence, improve service delivery, and support the continued growth and success of the school.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage all aspects of access arrangement administration, ensuring accurate and timely processing of student applications and supporting documentation.
- Reviewing and adhering to JCQ regulations, ensuring all paperwork and evidence comply with regulations for inspections.
- Acting as the main contact for students, parents, staff, and external agencies regarding existing or proposed exam arrangements.
- Submitting online applications to exam boards (e.g., via the Access Arrangements Online tool).
- Updating school MIS systems to reflect approved access arrangements and updating the Exams Office for implementation
- Complete appropriate sections of Forms 8 and 9 (manual entry) prior to SENCO review.
- Download, organise, and file examples of student work.
- Create and issue Normal Way of Working (NWOW) letters for students and families
- Communicate proactively with families regarding the access arrangement process, requirements, and any gaps in documentation, providing guidance and support throughout.
- Verify evidence and support of families from Year 9 through to Year 13, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected and maintained for access arrangement applications.
- Liaise with relevant staff and departments (e.g., SEN, Education, Exams) to coordinate and facilitate the access arrangement process.
- Monitor and report on the status of access arrangement applications.
- Collate, maintain, and safeguard all relevant data and records pertaining to access arrangements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and school requirements.
- Work collaboratively across the SEN and Exams team to provide efficient and timely processes, reporting and documentation.
- Identify training needs and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure all staff involved in the process are equipped with up-to-date knowledge and best practices.
- Quality assure internal assessments, ensuring that access arrangements are available for students in all summative assessments.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Qualifications:
- Ideally, the candidate will be qualified to degree level.
Essential:
- Previous administration experience, preferably in a school or college, with knowledge of SEN/EAA being advantageous.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail, strong IT skills (Microsoft Office, MIS systems), and excellent communication abilities.
- Ability to work with sensitive data, patient, empathetic, and able to work to strict deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Commitment to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, ensuring that this commitment is demonstrated in all aspects of the role as appropriate.
Desirable:
- Understanding of JCQ Access Arrangements regulations.
- Familiarity with cross-functional collaboration.
