It is desirable, but not essential, that this person enjoys teaching younger groups and is passionate about developing the curriculum in KS3 to make it interesting and engage young learners. We value not only the linguistic elements when acquiring a foreign language but also the cultural aspect and the skills that come with it.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and implement engaging, student-centered lessons that inspire a love of language learning.
  • Develop the KS3 curriculum to ensure it is engaging, relevant, and challenging for younger learners.
  • Foster an appreciation for cultural diversity and promote cross-curricular learning through language teaching.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support individual development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities and align best practices in teaching.
  • Contribute to the school’s extracurricular program, including cultural events, language clubs, or trips.
  • Maintain an inclusive, supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
  • Uphold the school’s values and contribute to the broader school community through active involvement.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A degree in French, Spanish, Modern Foreign Languages, or a related field.
  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS).
  • Experience teaching French and Spanish at KS3, IGCSE, IBDP, and A Level.
  • A proven track record of engaging and inspiring students across different age groups.
  • A passion for curriculum development, particularly for KS3, with a focus on creativity and engagement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Cultural awareness and a passion for integrating cultural elements into language teaching.
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm, and a growth mindset.
  • A commitment to professional development and staying current with best practices in language teaching.
