ROLE SUMMARY:

The Junior School Support Teacher plays a vital role in ensuring that every student, regardless of their learning profile, can access the curriculum and reach their full potential. At PaRK International School, we value individualized learning and academic excellence. You will work closely with lead teachers to provide targeted assistance to students in small groups or one-on-one, fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Academic Support: Assist students with core subjects (Mathematics, English, and Science), ensuring they meet the requirements of the Cambridge International and Portuguese National curricula.
  • Differentiated Learning: Work with lead teachers to adapt and differentiate lesson materials to suit diverse learning needs, including students with SpLDs or EAL requirements (like PLMN).
  • Small Group Intervention: Lead focused intervention sessions outside or within the classroom to reinforce key concepts and bridge learning gaps.
  • Inclusion & Well-being: Actively promote the inclusion of all students, supporting their social and emotional development as part of the school's pastoral care.
  • Monitoring Progress: Observe, record, and report on student progress, collaborating with the Well-being team and parents to ensure holistic support.
  • Classroom Collaboration: Help maintain an organized, safe, and stimulating learning environment, including preparing resources and supervising students during transitions or breaks.
  • Technology Integration: Utilize educational technology to enhance learning, aligning with PaRK’s innovative mindset.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Qualifications: A relevant university degree in Education, Psychology, or Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Experience: Proven experience working with primary-aged children (ages 6–10) in an educational setting, ideally within an international or bilingual school.
  • Skills: Fluency in English (mandatory); proficiency in Portuguese is a significant advantage given the school’s bilingual roots.
  • Mindset: A proactive, "learner-focused" attitude with a strong commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
  • Adaptability: The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
