ROLE SUMMARY:

The Head of Curriculum, Tracking & Assessment is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing student choices, student progress, assessment, timetabling and curriculum implementation at PaRK International School Lisbon. This role focuses on ensuring high academic standards, effective tracking and reporting of student progress, and the smooth organisation of timetables, subject choices, and examinations. They will be expected to lead at a strategic level and to actively promote the wider aims of the school. They will be a member of the Senior School Leadership Team and report to the Head of Senior School. Relief time: 10 hours/ week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the Senior School Calendar (academic, pastoral, exam, etc). Ensure the information is accurate, up to date and clearly communicated with all stakeholders. 
  • Create and lead the school’s Academic Calendar in conjunction with the MLT and SSLT.
  • Lead on the annual production of the whole school timetable, including the Senior School students subject option choices, set/class changes throughout the school year. 
  • Manage and oversee updates to the Senior school’s academic policies, ensuring alignment with educational standards and school goals.
  • Be an active presence around the school during the day, monitoring, evaluating and looking to optimise daily routines and procedures. 
  • Arrange Cover for Senior School teacher absence daily. 
  • Arrange Parent Student Conferences (PSCs)
  • Lead the tracking of student progress across all key stages, ensuring timely and accurate monitoring of performance and share key conclusions from which decisions can be made in the best interest of the student and school
  • Oversee the reporting of assessments, ensuring that reports are clear, detailed, and effectively communicate student progress to parents and staff.
  • To provide student data in an accurate and concise format whereby teachers can appropriately adapt their teaching accordingly. 
  • Support Heads of Department in ensuring accurate data is available to monitor the progress of every student (CEM/GL assessments/Cycle tests/other data)
  • Support teachers in determining aspirational target grades for iGCSE, A level and IB students. 
  • Lead the development and implementation of Individualised Academic Plans (IAPs) to support student learning needs and maximise outcomes.
  • Lead teacher meetings (Concelhos) to discuss the current situation and define required next actions where student progress is of concern.
  • Manage student subject choices in collaboration with Heads of Department (HoDs) and Head of IBDP and Head of Cambridge as well as the timetabler.
  • Oversee the creation and organisation of class groups, ensuring they align with student needs and curriculum requirements.
  • Update and maintain student subject choices in the ISAMS system to ensure accurate records.
  • Line manage the  Exams Officer, overseeing the planning, organisation, and administration of internal and external examinations (including IGCSE, AS level, A levels and IB).
  • Lead on the required administration of CEM, GL and other assessments as required.
  • Work with the Timetabler to design and manage the school’s timetable, ensuring efficiency and alignment with teaching requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Senior School Leadership Team to align curriculum, assessment, and tracking systems with the school’s overall vision and goals.
  • Provide support and guidance to teaching staff on academic policies, assessment processes, and the use of tracking systems.
  • Lead training and communication to ensure all teaching staff understand the structure of the data trackers and how these aid academic student progress. 
  • Provide key reporting to SSLT and SLT when required regarding the overall progress of students. 
  • Attend weekly Senior School Leadership meetings and support at the bi-weekly HoD meetings and HoY meetings. 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Proven experience in curriculum leadership, assessment, and student tracking systems.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly in managing timetables and examinations.
  • Experience working with student information systems such as ISAMS.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with staff, students, and parents.
  • A commitment to maintaining high academic standards and supporting student success.
