ROLE SUMMARY:
PaRK International School is seeking a passionate and academically rigorous Teacher of English to join our Alfragide campus. This role is specifically focused on delivering high-quality instruction within our Sixth Form, encompassing both the Cambridge International A-Levels and the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP). The ideal candidate will inspire students to achieve excellence in literary analysis and linguistic proficiency while preparing them for the challenges of university-level study.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver challenging lessons for A-Level English Literature/Language and IBDP English A (Language & Literature) or English B.
- Exam Preparation: Expertly prepare students for external examinations, ensuring deep familiarity with mark schemes, essay-writing techniques, and oral assessment requirements.
- Research Mentorship: Act as a supervisor for the IB Extended Essay (EE) and internal assessments, providing high-level academic guidance and feedback.
- Critical Thinking: Integrate Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and global perspectives into the English curriculum to foster international-mindedness.
- Student Progress: Use data-driven insights to track student performance, providing targeted interventions to ensure every student reaches or exceeds their predicted grades.
- Higher Education Support: Assist students with university applications (UCAS/Common App) by providing academic references and guidance on personal statements related to Humanities.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, Linguistics, or a related field, plus a recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- Experience: Proven track record of teaching A-Level and/or IBDP English with successful exam results.
- Pedagogy: Deep understanding of the inquiry-based learning model (IB) and the rigorous analytical demands of the British curriculum (A-Level).
- Communication: Native or near-native English fluency with exceptional writing skills.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in educational technology and Virtual Learning Environments (VLE) like ManageBac or Google Classroom.
