ROLE SUMMARY:
Northfields International School is a premier independent co-educational day school in Mauritius that provides an English-medium education for over 1200 boys and girls aged between 18 months and 18 years. The Northfields campus in Labourdonnais is situated on owned freehold property and incorporates numerous subject classrooms, dedicated science labs, computer suites, art studios, a design and Special Education Needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) support rooms. Northfields offers internationally recognised educational programmes and qualifications for Cambridge, and International Baccalaureate. The curriculum progression at our school begins with the Montessori Pre-Nursery, fostering early development through hands-on, child-centred learning. Students then transition into the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) at NIPS, where they build a strong foundation in inquiry-based learning. From Primary School, students advance to Secondary School (Years 7–11), where they follow a rigorous curriculum that culminates in the Cambridge IGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11. In Sixth Form, students undertake the two-year IB Diploma Programme (DP), preparing them for global higher education opportunities and lifelong success.
Apart from being an authorised IB World School, the quality of Northfields is further bolstered through the school’s accreditation with the Council of International Schools (CIS) and memberships with the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA) and the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA). We are currently looking for a Temporary Caregiver is responsible for creating a stimulating learning environment and attending to the children's basic needs. The Caregiver should be a dedicated professional who is passionate about working with children and committed to their development and care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparing, organising, and supervising mealtimes and snacks with nutritional food selections.
- Planning and supervising balanced routines that include physical activities, rest, and playtime.
- Providing responsible care and maintaining all safety standards.
- Ensuring a safe, sanitary, and orderly environment.
- Maintaining professional and positive relationships with parents, children, and staff.
- Notifying supervisors and parents of any signs of emotional or developmental issues.
- Providing structure and accountability that is firm but compassionate.
- Assisting children in the bathroom or with diapering tasks as needed.
- Encouraging children to participate in all activities.
- Assisting in daily tasks in dressing and children’s toiletry skills development.
- Have a clear understanding of cleanliness and hygiene and will be able to follow through with the protocol of the school.
- Assist in documenting the child’s daily basic needs and requirements.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Higher School Certificate or Childcare Certificate would be advantageous.
- Up-to-date first aid and CPR certificate
- A minimum of 1 year experience in a professional childcare environment

- Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks such as sitting on the floor, bending, and lifting children.
