Reddford House Northcliff is situated on the affluent Northcliff Ridge and is surrounded by the upmarket, leafy northern suburbs. The school is ideally located making it easily accessible from all major routes.The school has an imposing design along with a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere. ROLE SUMMARY:

 

We’re appointing a Locum IT Teacher to sustain delivery of the IEB IT curriculum. You will maintain learning momentum through well-planned theory and practical lessons, data-informed assessment and timely feedback. During the cover period you’ll provide extra lessons and contribute to the afternoon programme, communicate promptly with parents, and ensure a precise handover so students experience continuity before and after your placement. You’ll collaborate closely with the Deputy Head of Academics and the IT department to uphold Inspired standards and positive classroom culture.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Plan, prepare and present engaging IEB-aligned IT lessons (theory and practical). 
  • Establish a nurturing environment that promotes deep learning and safe digital practice.  
  • Provide extra lessons on two afternoons per week and engage in the afternoon programme (minimum two afternoons).  
  • Respond to parent/student messages within expected timelines (e.g., 24 hours). 
  • Serve as Tutor teacher if required and support effective pastoral care.  
  • Set and mark classwork, tests and examinations; write clear, informative report comments.  
  • Collaborate within the department, share resources and meet all timelines for action.  
  • Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice; participate in ongoing professional development.  
  • Attend school occasions appropriate to the position and complete accurate handover documentation.  

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • SACE registration (essential) and recognised teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed/PGCE).  
  • University degree in IT/Computer Science (or closely related field).  
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching IT (IEB experience advantageous).  
  • Able to set clear expectations and stretching goals; confident classroom routines.  
  • Adaptable teaching style incorporating feedback and emerging technologies.  
  • Depth of subject/technical understanding and ability to judge learning effectiveness.  
  • Excellent preparation and planning; reliable with practicals, submissions and deadlines.  
  • Assessment of student outcomes with feedback that enhances performance.  
  • Genuine care and attention for the highest standards of student welfare.  
  • Appropriate right to work in South Africa.
