OUR SCHOOL:

 

Reddam House Bedfordview is a premium, co-educational, private school situated near the prestigious Kensington Golf Course.

Providing a balanced, holistic, innovative learning experience, encouraging students to realize their unique gifts, talents and abilities in pursuit of academic excellence, Reddam House Bedfordview school has two extensive campuses with phenomenal facilities for academics, sport and the creative arts. Our BCC Campus for ELS and Junior Preparatory students includes vibrant classrooms, spacious playgrounds, sports fields, cricket nets and tennis courts.

 

We require an enthusiastic and capable Head of Hockey for PREP and college who will promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counselling programme that addresses academic and personal/social development for all students. This is a full-time role which is due to commence term 1 2025.

ROLE SUMMARY AND JOB PURPOSE SPECIFIC:

 

To adopt an aspirant view to students in their care, promoting the progress and well-being of individuals and of any class or group assigned to them. Under their guidance our students will become Interested and Interesting. To create a positive learning environment and motivate students to achieve their full potential. To design and lead an age appropriate, scaled learning programme that develops players and teams for high performance learning

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC:

 

The successful candidate will manage the development of a crisp, exacting, safe and aspirant Hockey and Cricket programme. He or she will work closely with the Heads of all sporting codes.

This position requires the Head of Hockey and Cricket to:

  • Meet and manage all safeguarding protocols and policies
  • Manage all Hockey teams, coaches, fixtures, events and supporting logistics
  • Coach various teams – therein to plan, prepare and present engaging sessions
  • Teach Physical Education and Sports Science classes
  • Attend relevant Reddam sports tours as either the coach or manager
  • Support the development of a Sports department striving for best practice
  • Serve the community
  • To be a Tutor teacher, ensuring effective pastoral care for a group of students
  • Where relevant, write informative report comments
  • To undertake any other reasonable tasks that the School Heads / Heads of Sport determine

  • The ability to engage and ‘interest’ children
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Sport administration / leadership
  • The ability to contribute to a high performing team
  • Skilled in sharing a compelling story to engage stakeholders and direct action
  • Outstanding administrative skills 
  • Outstanding commitment to action and realizing objectives
  • Excellence in communication - clear, concise, and consistent
  • Strategic competency in using word, excel, google docs and classroom
  • First Aid Training
  • Appropriate legal right to work in a South African school
  • University degree in an appropriate course
  • SACE accreditation
