The key purpose of the Primary PE Teacher position is to promote students’ physical development, wellbeing, teamwork, and lifelong appreciation for health and fitness through engaging and developmentally appropriate physical education programmes. The teacher will deliver high-quality PE lessons that develop fundamental movement skills, sportsmanship, confidence, resilience, and healthy lifestyle habits while supporting the school’s vision and values. The role also contributes to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging student participation in physical activity, and enriching the wider school community through sports events, extracurricular activities, and wellbeing initiatives where appropriate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan and deliver engaging Primary PE lessons aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and school curriculum.

Foster physical literacy, fitness, teamwork, wellbeing, and healthy lifestyle habits through inclusive and student-centred learning experiences.

Create a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment that encourages participation, confidence, and sportsmanship.

Assess and monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.

Support and contribute to sports days, extracurricular activities, and other school events.

Ensure the safe use of equipment, facilities, and learning spaces in accordance with school policies.

Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development, transdisciplinary learning, and whole-school initiatives.

Uphold safeguarding, wellbeing, and professional standards while contributing positively to the school community.

Participate in professional learning and continuously develop knowledge and practice in Physical Education and PYP education.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

A recognised teaching qualification and relevant degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.

Experience teaching Primary Physical Education, preferably within an international school setting.

Knowledge of, or experience with, the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and inquiry-based learning approaches.

A strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate physical education practices.

The ability to create engaging, inclusive, and student-centred learning experiences that promote physical literacy, wellbeing, and lifelong participation in physical activity.

Excellent classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
