The International School of Querétaro (ISQ) is seeking a dedicated and proactive High School Counselor / Educational Psychologist / Social Service Coordinator to join our team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave from December 2026 through March 2027.. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the emotional, social, and personal development of High School students, fostering a positive and inclusive school environment. The position combines classroom instruction in Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Vocational Guidance with individual student support, school coexistence initiatives, vocational internship coordination, and Social Service program management.
Working closely with the High School Psychopedagogy team, the role will support students in Grades 9, 10, and 11, helping them develop essential life skills, navigate personal challenges, and explore future academic and professional pathways.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Vocational & Career Guidance lessons to students in Grades 9, 10, and 11, covering six groups and a total of 12 teaching periods per week.
- Plan and facilitate engaging lessons focused on emotional intelligence, self-awareness, conflict resolution, decision-making, and career exploration.
- Provide individual emotional support, guidance, and immediate emotional containment to students experiencing personal, social, or academic challenges.
- Actively promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful school environment, supporting healthy student relationships and school coexistence (convivencia escolar).
- Collaborate with the High School Psychopedagogy team to develop intervention plans, monitor student well-being, and coordinate multidisciplinary follow-ups.
- Manage and coordinate the Vocational Internship Program (Prácticas Vocacionales), including identifying and contacting external organizations, businesses, and institutions to secure suitable student placements.
- Organize the logistics and execution of the four-day vocational internship experience during the second semester, matching students with opportunities aligned with their professional interests.
- Monitor student participation, attendance, engagement, and performance throughout the vocational internship program.
- Coordinate and oversee the mandatory Social Service (Community Service) program for Grades 9 and 10, guiding students in selecting projects, completing activities, and documenting their required hours.
- Track and evaluate student progress in Social Service activities, ensuring compliance with institutional and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Balance classroom responsibilities with individual counseling, emotional support, student well-being initiatives, and administrative follow-up of vocational and Social Service programs.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A bachelor's degree in Psychology, Educational Psychology, Psychopedagogy, Education, or a closely related field.
- Previous experience supporting the emotional, social, and personal development of adolescents, preferably in a secondary or High School environment.
- Experience delivering Socio-Emotional Learning, personal development, or vocational guidance programs.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development, emotional well-being, conflict resolution, and student support strategies.
- Experience providing individual student guidance, emotional containment, and supporting intervention plans.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate student programs, external partnerships, and multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, families, and external organizations.
- A proactive, hands-on, and collaborative approach, with the flexibility to balance teaching, counseling, and program coordination responsibilities.
- A genuine commitment to student well-being, inclusion, and the development of a positive school culture.
- Availability to join ISQ for the temporary maternity leave coverage period, approximately December 2026 through March 2027.
